Smoke Descending
Well, I'm going to keep posting, even if no one's here to read it! :) ***************************************************** How did I get here? Lying naked in this dry riverbed? The sky is bleak Grey clouds veil the sun Rendering it a mere shadow of its powerful self The hills surround me Covered in trees Now merely kindling As the flames gorge themselves Black smoke rises lazily And drifts back down upon the destruction What beauty must have been here! The trees, the river, the birds But now it is a hollow skeleton A bridge lies up ahead What need is there for it now? Soon it too will be devoured As will I.
